Our Story

TCA, The Colombian Advantage logo

A company built around people, opportunity, and connection

TCA began with a shared belief in the strength of Colombian talent and the possibilities created when the right people and organizations connect.

How TCA began

TCA grew from two complementary perspectives: a deep understanding of Colombian talent and firsthand experience with the operational needs of companies in the United States and Canada. Together, Jinna Sánchez and Derek Scarbrough created the connection they believed both sides needed.

Jinna Sanchez

The bridge builder

Jinna Sánchez had a front-row view of two realities: the depth of Colombian talent and the difficulty growing companies faced when trying to find it.

The gap was never skill. Colombia’s universities, technology sector, and logistics workforce were producing capable professionals. What was missing was a partner that understood both sides, could connect the right people with the right organizations, and could help make the integration successful. In 2017, Jinna helped build that bridge.

Today, she leads TCA’s operations across talent sourcing, client relationships, and the preparation that helps professionals contribute from the beginning. The purpose remains unchanged: create the right connection and build it to last.

Derek Scarbrough

Derek Scarbrough spent nearly two decades in logistics, from freight forwarding to customs brokerage, learning how global operations work from the inside.

When he traveled to Colombia and began working alongside local professionals, he saw something many staffing firms overlooked: the talent, work ethic, and drive of people who did not simply meet the standard—they raised it.

That firsthand experience became part of TCA’s foundation. Together with Jinna, Derek built the company around a simple belief: the best nearshore teams are not only cost-effective; they are exceptional. Today, his focus is growth strategy and operational partnerships as TCA continues to scale while protecting the culture that makes it work.

Why Colombia became part of our story.

For Jinna and Derek, Colombia was more than a place to recruit. They saw capable professionals whose potential was not always reaching companies in the United States and Canada.
Together, they shaped TCA’s approach: connect companies with bilingual professionals who can align with their hours, learn their tools, understand their expectations, and become meaningful contributors to their teams.
