Job Title: US CUSTOMS WRITER
Job Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated US Customs Writer to join our operations team. This is an entry-level position designed for professionals looking to build a career in customs brokerage and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess foundational knowledge of import regulations, strong data entry skills, and the ability to ensure accurate and compliant customs filings.
Duties and Responsibilities
Review and Verification: Review entry details and verify compliance data related to the calculation of duties, duty policy, Partner Government Agencies (PGAs), trade agreements, prior notice, or any specific requests by Customs for proper filing and release.
Client Management: Manage and update client profiles, maintaining accurate and current client information.
Reporting: Generate and manage internal and external operational reports as required.
Customer Support: Respond to customer inquiries and follow up diligently to ensure issue resolution and customer satisfaction.
Problem Resolution: Research, resolve, and communicate operational or entry problems utilizing system notes while working directly with import representatives, customers, and agents.
Process Excellence: Operate at a high level of accuracy, compliance, and efficiency with respect to customs documentation and customer experience.
Operational Knowledge: Apply working knowledge of core customs business elements—such as Customs Bonds, Importer Security Filing (ISF), basic PGA information, and basic entry transmission requirements.
Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills:
Qualifications
Customs Brokerage / Clearances: 1+ years of relevant experience.
Data Entry: 1+ years of experience in high-accuracy data entry.
CBP ACE / PGA Transmission: Familiarity with transmission processes.
Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Required); CargoWise experience (Preferred but not required).
Certifications: Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist (Preferred but not required).
